Telltale Games shutting down is a sad situation, but most of the sadness must be reserved for the actual victims - the employees who were overworked and are now unpaid. As a class action lawsuit alleges workplace violations, it's becoming quite clear that Telltale won't leave a positive legacy behind.

Electronic Arts has had to disclose the odds of getting players in FIFA Ultimate Team packs, and the odds suck. While not even a full disclosure, EA's revealed you have a less than 1% chance of obtaining the rarest players, the so-called Ones To Watch.

EA tries to compare FUT to Panini stickers, but Panini doesn't do its customers like EA does its customers.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one damn greedy game. In addition to its half dozen special editions, its Amazon Alexa tie-in, its Totino's promotion, and its season pass, it's filled to the brim with microtransactions. As well as all that, it's been purposefully turned into a grindfest in order to sell XP boosters, like this is some free-to-play mobile game. 

Fee-to-pay games are back in a major way. More like Assassin's Greed!

As far as Steam Direct games go, Mutation Phase isn't all that bad. At least when compared to most desperate zombie asset flips. This one has headshots, tutorials, a sense of progression... it's like they thought about it for more than five minutes.

At least... until the unwinnable situation.

The excuses people make for multibillion dollar publishers have to stop. They ignore so many ways in which the "AAA" game industry both makes money and takes shortcuts.

From tax havens to worker mistreatment, from the avoidance of royalties to the sheer amount executives make in compensation, the game industry actually has it EASY while pretending it's got it hard. Let's look at all this.
