Assassin's Creed Odyssey is one damn greedy game. In addition to its half dozen special editions, its Amazon Alexa tie-in, its Totino's promotion, and its season pass, it's filled to the brim with microtransactions. As well as all that, it's been purposefully turned into a grindfest in order to sell XP boosters, like this is some free-to-play mobile game. 

Fee-to-pay games are back in a major way. More like Assassin's Greed!

Once again people with the money want to fiddle around with the Internet in a way that won't end well for the people with less money.

The European Union Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market, specifically Article 13 and Article 11, is vague, overreaching, and looks ripe for abuse. In a world where ContentID and copyright protection is already an outdated mess, this won't make anything better.

As far as Steam Direct games go, Mutation Phase isn't all that bad. At least when compared to most desperate zombie asset flips. This one has headshots, tutorials, a sense of progression... it's like they thought about it for more than five minutes.

At least... until the unwinnable situation.

Over the past six years, the value of Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard has skyrocketed to obscene degrees. While game industry executives can laugh it up for the short term, this is actually a pretty bad sign.

The boom comes before the bust, after all, because our system is broken.
